The Jayhawk Club began in 2016
The Jayhawk Club was formerly known as Alvamar Country Club. Alvamar was started by Bob Billings with Realtor John McGrew and Mel Anderson. Completed in 1968, The Alvamar Hills Golf Course consisted of the Jayhawk and Quail Creek nine hole courses. These courses were the very first in the world constructed with Zoysia grass fairways. Alvamar grew to 36 holes with its 18-hole Championship Course and 18-hole Member's Course. The Championship Course at Alvamar hosted a number of significant championships over the years, including the Kansas Open, the USGA Women's Public Links Championship, the Big Eight & Big Twelve Championships and numerous Kansas Golf Association and Midwest Section PGA Championships.
In December of 2016, Alvamar became fully private and major renovations began. In February 2017, Alvamar officially became The Jayhawk Club. The Clubhouse is set to open in May 2017 with other projects on-going.
